Where Therapy Meets Neuroscience: An Integrated Approach to Mental Wellness

Mental health care is not one-size-fits-all. At NeuroWellness Center, we combine evidence-based counseling with neuroscience-informed approaches to create individualized treatment plans based on each client's needs, symptoms, and goals.

Our services may include qEEG brain mapping, neurofeedback, Heart Rate Variability (HRV) biofeedback, photobiomodulation (PBM), counseling, mindfulness, and nervous-system regulation strategies.

Clients often come to NeuroWellness Center seeking support for concerns such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, chronic stress, difficulty with emotional regulation, and sleep concerns.

What Is qEEG Brain Mapping?

A quantitative electroencephalogram, or qEEG, is a non-invasive assessment that records electrical activity from the brain using sensors placed on the scalp.

The information collected can help clinicians identify patterns of brainwave activity and better understand how different areas of the brain are functioning.

At NeuroWellness Center, qEEG brain mapping may be used alongside a client's clinical history, symptoms, treatment goals, and other assessments to help inform an individualized neurofeedback plan.

A qEEG is not used by itself to diagnose a mental-health condition.

What Is Neurofeedback?

Neurofeedback is a non-invasive form of brain training that provides real-time feedback about brain activity.

During a neurofeedback session, sensors placed on the scalp measure brainwave activity while specialized software provides visual or auditory feedback. Through repeated training sessions, the brain receives information about its activity and practices more regulated patterns.

Neurofeedback may be incorporated into treatment plans for clients experiencing concerns related to anxiety, attention, emotional regulation, stress, sleep, trauma, and other mental-health symptoms.

Because every brain and every client is different, neurofeedback protocols at NeuroWellness Center are individualized rather than using the same approach for everyone.

Can Neurofeedback Help With Anxiety and Depression?

Research into neurofeedback for anxiety and depression continues to develop. Some studies have reported improvements in symptoms, while results vary depending on the individual, protocol, and quality of the research.

At NeuroWellness Center, neurofeedback may be used as part of a broader treatment plan rather than viewed as a replacement for appropriate mental-health or medical care.

For some clients, that means combining neurofeedback with counseling so that treatment addresses both emotional and behavioral patterns and nervous-system regulation.

Can You Do Talk Therapy and Neurofeedback Together?

Yes. Counseling and neurofeedback can be incorporated into the same overall treatment plan when clinically appropriate.

This integrated approach is a central part of NeuroWellness Center's philosophy: where therapy meets neuroscience.

Counseling gives clients an opportunity to understand thoughts, emotions, behaviors, relationships, and experiences while developing practical coping and regulation skills. Neurofeedback provides a different type of training focused on patterns of brain activity.

Depending on the client's needs, a treatment plan may include counseling, neurofeedback, or a combination of approaches.

HRV Biofeedback and Nervous-System Regulation

Heart Rate Variability, or HRV, refers to variation in the amount of time between heartbeats. HRV biofeedback uses real-time physiological information to help clients practice breathing and regulation techniques.

Clients can learn how breathing patterns and other regulation strategies affect their physiological response to stress.

At NeuroWellness Center, HRV may be incorporated with counseling, neurofeedback, mindfulness, and other approaches as part of an individualized treatment plan.

Photobiomodulation (PBM)

Photobiomodulation uses specific wavelengths of red or near-infrared light. PBM is being studied in a variety of areas related to cellular function, brain health, and neurological and mental-health applications.

At NeuroWellness Center, photobiomodulation may be offered as a complementary wellness modality as part of an individualized plan when appropriate.

Counseling and Psychotherapy

Technology does not replace the human component of mental-health care.

NeuroWellness Center offers counseling and psychotherapy for concerns including anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, chronic stress, life transitions, relationship concerns, and emotional regulation.

Our clinicians may draw from approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness-based strategies, motivational interviewing, trauma-informed care, and other evidence-based approaches based on the client's individual needs.

Anxiety, Stress and Nervous-System Regulation

Anxiety can involve persistent worry, racing thoughts, physical tension, difficulty relaxing, sleep disruption, panic symptoms, or feeling constantly "on alert."

Treatment may involve counseling approaches such as CBT and mindfulness-based strategies as well as nervous-system regulation techniques, HRV biofeedback, or neurofeedback when appropriate.

The goal is not simply to manage symptoms in the moment but to help clients develop skills and strategies they can continue using outside of treatment.

ADHD and Attention

ADHD can affect attention, organization, impulse control, working memory, motivation, and emotional regulation.

Treatment at NeuroWellness Center is individualized. Depending on a client's needs, care may include counseling, behavioral strategies, executive-function support, neurofeedback, or collaboration with outside medical providers.

Neurofeedback may be used to train patterns of brain activity associated with attention and regulation, while counseling can help clients develop practical strategies for everyday life.

Trauma-Informed Care

Trauma can affect thoughts, emotions, relationships, sleep, attention, and the body's response to stress.

NeuroWellness Center provides trauma-informed mental-health care and may incorporate approaches such as EMDR, CBT-based interventions, mindfulness, nervous-system regulation, and neurofeedback depending on the client's needs and clinician recommendations.

Treatment is individualized, and clients are not expected to use every modality offered by the center.

Personalized Mental Health Care

One of the biggest differences at NeuroWellness Center is that treatment does not have to fit into a single box.

Some clients benefit primarily from counseling. Others may incorporate neurofeedback or additional regulation-focused approaches. Some clients benefit from an integrated plan.

The appropriate approach depends on the client's symptoms, goals, clinical needs, preferences, and response to treatment.
